Self-Temperaure Compensation (STC) of Strain Gauges All the strain gauges for transducer application (class-A and class-B) and the most strain gauges for stress analysis (class-B and part of class-C), are designed to possesse self-temperature compensation (STC) property and available for a variaty of spring element materials (strain gauge substrate). Besides the materials listed in the Strain Gauge Coding System, there are even more materials listed in the following Table-STC. This table listes a relation of the STC number of strain gauges versus termal expension coinfficients (æ) of the substrate materials, which the strain gauge is bonded to. Tab. α versus STC No.
Remarks: 1) Listed in Strain Gauge Coding System, the STC number is only for available STC strain gauges of relating materials. 2) The value æ of a given material is recorded in ppm/ºC unit. As a reference, the corresponding value of æ in ppm/ºF unit is listed in the last column. |
